What the app does
Car Controller keeps your Volkswagen's climatisation running continuously by automatically restarting it before the standard 30-minute timeout. It connects to your VW account through the official VW API.
Data we collect
- Google account info — your name and email address, used for authentication via Google Sign-In.
- VW authentication tokens — OAuth refresh tokens obtained when you log in to your VW account, used to communicate with the VW API on your behalf. Your VW password is never stored.
- Vehicle data — battery level, charging status, and climatisation state, retrieved from the VW API to operate the app.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging token — used to send push notifications about climate and charging events.
How we use your data
Your data is used solely to provide the app's functionality: authenticating with VW, controlling climatisation, and sending you status notifications. We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
Data storage and security
- Your VW password is never stored. We only store OAuth refresh tokens on our backend server, which are used to communicate with the VW API. When a refresh token expires, you will be asked to re-authenticate.
- All communication between the app, our server, and the VW API is encrypted via HTTPS.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties.
Third-party services
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. You can request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your VW tokens and all associated data are permanently removed from our server.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
